Curry and Rice

... constantly... tired.

I tried to start writing an entry this weekend, but kept getting sidetracked with all of the other million things to do. So, I'll try to keep up to date with this list:

Recent News:

1. I'm not getting paid anywhere near enough for how hard I am working.

2. My first afternoon at Nango Elementary (a week ago, last Wednesday) had a very different vibe than my days at the junior high. Basically, first grade Japanese kids are some of the best people in the world.

3. Weekend before last Hylton and I spent two days in Tokyo. Basically, on Sunday we met up with a few friends (2 American boys, 2 Canadian girls) we made at our company orientation in Mito at the end of August. We spent the day between Harajuku, Akihabara and Asakusa (three of Tokyo's 23 wards, or sub-city-things). On Monday (a national holiday) Hylton and I met up in Shibuya with two of our Japanese friends who both live and work in Tokyo. It was very hot, I packed very light, and I have finally finished posting some pictures on that webpage I directed you to a few entries ago. Once more: check it out.

4. Yesterday (also a national holiday, and much needed extra day off) Hylton and I took a 50 minute train to Chiba City, where we met up with Marc and Mike, the two Heart ALTs (ALT = assistant language teacher) in our area. We spent most of the day at a free outdoor concert where we got dirty looks from the eight other Caucasians in attendance. While I was searching for work-appropriate clothing in the seven-floor-high department store across the street, Hylton apparently managed to make some contacts, and we might be going to a show in Shibuya in a few weekends, and might "party with the band" afterwards. Sometimes these things don't pan out, but it sounds really nice in print, doesn't it?

Hope all is well with everyone! Feel free to leave me a comment if the mood strikes you. Much love!
