I haven't been able to sit down and write a real entry yet, but I wanted to get something down to remind you I'm still out there somewhere. I have a lot to say, so check back again soon. [Click pictures to enlarge]
First morning in Japan! Hylton and I showing off our hostel breakfast in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, before our first day of training.
Naruto Higashi Junior High, where I have been working the past five days. I have to work both days this weekend, and then I think I have Monday and Tuesday off... a story far too complicated to get into now.
Naruto-machi, the town we live in, is littered with Buddhist and Shinto shrines. This here is me, about a week ago, in front of a Shinto shrine behind one of the schools Hylton teaches at.
I've missed biking in foreign countries.
Me in the middle of a rice paddy next to one of the elementary schools I will be teaching at. Taken on Sunday, when Hylton and I mapped out our school routes (his by car, mine by bike).
The post-typhoon sunset this evening.

And I think the little shrines are possibly my favorite part of the Japanese landscape.
